Apple working on AI enabled Safari
Apple is developing Safari 18, the latest version of its web browser with new AI-powered features. Safari 18 will reportedly include:
Intelligent Search: Enables you to quickly key topics and phrases on a webpage to power search and summarization features
Web Eraser: A feature designed for enhanced user privacy, Web Eraser lets users delete specific sections of web pages. The browser remembers these changes even after tabs or windows are closed.
Enhanced Page Controls: Safari 18 will feature a revamped page controls menu in the address bar for easy access to zoom options, privacy settings, content blocking, and shortcuts for extensions and new tools.
Safari 18 is being tested alongside iOS 18 and macOS 15 and could be launched later this year (read more)
Google Antitrust trail wraps up
Google's search business is now in the hands of Judge Amit Mehta following the conclusion of closing arguments in the Department of Justice's landmark antitrust trial against the tech giant.
Anticompetitive: The DOJ and 38 states allege that Google locked up the search market by securing contracts with phone manufacturers and browser companies, making itself the default search engine and stifling competition.
Sabotaging Bing Ads: Google allegedly delayed incorporating features for Microsoft Bing ads in its SA360 tool, which manages ads across multiple platforms, giving Google an unfair advantage in the search advertising market.
Deleted Chats Controversy: The DOJ accused Google of intentionally deleting chat messages that could have served as evidence, arguing that Google maintained a flawed retention policy.
